‘Utterly objectionable’: Australian taxpayer to subsidise EV sales
Liberal MP Andrew Wallace discusses the revelation electric vehicle sales will be propped up with a tax discount, which treasury officials forecast will cost four times more than previously expected, totalling $1.2 billion.
“I don’t care what sort of car you want to drive or what anybody else wants to drive,” Mr Wallace told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio.
“What I do object to is those other people who don’t have electric vehicles they are now subsidising those that do to the tune of $1.2 billion.
“That’s four times what treasury originally estimated.
“It’s utterly objectionable; if you want to drive an electric car, knock your socks off, but don’t expect me to pay for it.”
