The CEO of major super fund HESTA says the government needs to be looking at how to increase the supply of homes, and not limit demand if it wants to solve the housing crisis. Debby Blakey oversees close to 83 billion dollars in savings from more than one million mostly essential workers in the health and community services sectors, many of whom are struggling to find affordable housing near their workplaces. And she says the opposition’s proposal to allow first home buyers to access their super isn’t fair because it will make young people choose between home ownership and security in retirement.
