Prime Minister spruiks government’s housing plan while touring Cairns
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has toured Cairns alongside Queensland Premier Steven Miles, spruiking the government’s housing plan ahead of his departure for this week’s Quad Meeting.
After a week of frustration and delay in the Senate, the Prime Minister wanted to show he’s getting on with the job when it comes to housing.
“We want more Australians to have access to homeownership, more Australians to have access to private rental, but more Australians as well to have access to social and affordable housing,” Mr Albanese said during a media conference on Thursday.
The federal and state governments have announced a joint-funded plan to build more than 400 new affordable houses in Cairns designed for older Queenslanders downsizing and to free up larger homes for younger families.
