PM will call an election when he ‘thinks he can win’

Sky News political contributor Chris Uhlmann says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will call an election when he “thinks he can win”.

Reserve Bank Governor Michele Bullock has said the central bank ‘won’t hesitate’ to lift rates if needed.

“You don’t want to be heading into a summer where you’re fearing blackouts and wondering about whether or not there might be an interest rate rise,” Mr Uhlmann told Sky News Australia.

“I don’t think the Prime Minister knows when the next election might be.

“The old saying in politics is the Prime Minister will go when the Prime Minister thinks he can win the election.”
