Labor reshuffle an ‘admission of failure’ by Anthony Albanese
Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume has labelled the Albanese government’s reshuffle as an “admission of failure” on immigration and housing.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has unveiled Labor’s new frontbench, dumping Clare O’Neil and Andrew Giles from the home affairs, cyber security and immigration portfolios and replacing them with Tony Burke.
“This reshuffle has been an admission of failure on behalf of the Albanese government, particularly in those areas of immigration and housing,” Ms Hume told Sky News Australia.
“Let’s not forget that under Tony Burke, the last time he was Immigration Minister, 83 boats arrived with more than 6,000 illegal immigrants.
“That was more than one boat a day.”
