Creating nuclear fuel in Australia would add ‘huge value’ to uranium
Australia Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation former CEO Adi Paterson explains the value added to uranium if Australia were to make it into nuclear fuel locally.
“We could develop the ability to make nuclear fuel, that adds a huge amount of value – about 1000 times to the uranium we send out now in the form of yellow cake,” Mr Paterson told Sky News host Sharri Markson.
“I think it is really important to recognise that uranium is power, all of the lowest carbon-reliable energy in the world apart from hydropower, which is about the same size, and some geothermal energy in places like the north of New Zealand.”
