House prices in Sydney have risen by more than 55 per cent in less than three years.

Economists say the growth has been fuelled by falling interest rates as well as increased household savings throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

The New South Wales government is discussing a new strategy to address the affordability crisis in Sydney.

The government would offer a contribution for first home buyers in return for equity in the property.
