Leading budget watcher and independent economist Chris Richardson says Australia’s economic luck could be running out with the economy facing many headwinds. Firstly, ex-tropical cyclone Alfred will deliver a blow to the budget bottom line and raise inflation. Mr Richards says there are other significant risks as well, including those that are “Trump-shaped” such as the fact that “there are a bunch of important countries around the world now that are run by old men with big agendas and poor impulse control”.
